BITS Pilani Says Merit First, No to reservation

BITs Pilani, the premier unaided private institutes has denied that it has agreed to reservation system. In a press release issues, BITS Pilani has said that NDTV and certain other news channels have wrongly quoted BITs Pilani name in the list of unaided deemed universities, who have agreed to implement reservation for SC/ST & OBC in which BITS, Pilani’s name is also mentioned.
As per statement, BITS, Pilani could not attend the said meeting convened by the Hon’ble Minister of HRD on 26th October, 2006.
In fact BITS, Pilani had already submitted a Note to the Ministry expressing its views on reservation of seats in admissions for the weaker sections.
According to BITS, merit must be the only criteria for admissions so as to ensure homogenous input into the higher education system. Provision has to be made in the schools to give special coaching so that candidates of weaker sections can compete with other students.
BITS Pilani, established as university in 1964 was started by Mr G.D.Birla, an eminent industrialist, a participant in Indian freedom struggle and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi.
BITS Pilani is one of leading educational institute is India and is known for its quality teaching.

Google code search


Google has taken its search expertise to one of its favorite audiences: software developers.

The company on Thursday launched a Web site, Google Code Search, which the company says will let programmers search billions of lines of code for tips on how to write their own software.
